Transformers - School yard parodies
It has not been since Independence Day and Godzilla that i look forward to a CG movie with such anticipation. ID4 turned out quite good, whereas Godzilla turned out to be a free-range chicken roaming around. Transformers reminds me of primary school years quite vividly. It was one of the first cartoons in the 80s that brought me and my classmates together, followed up by GI-Joe, Starcom, Silverhawk, Centurions, Thundercats, oh....and of course, Mask. Friends will ask their parents to buy a Transformer, on their birthday, or when they achieved good results during examinations; i.e. the Top Ten in class.

There were those who collect Autobots aka The Good Guys only, and there were those Decepticons, the bad guys. Then, in each group, there were Robots that were made up of 5 small robots. Some friends will each get different parts of the body, Scissor paper stone, u lose, u buy the leg. They will then get together one day just to merge the anatomy to satisfy their ego-trip. School recess during those days were rolling out these robots to simulate battles. 2 groups, fighting with imaginary lasers, protected by imaginary shields, transform with imaginary mechanical parts........with sound effects. Then there were those self organised design-your-robot competitions, which subsequently turned out to be the introduction school text books vandalism. New things doesn't seem to excite me nowadays, ironically, when something does, its from the past. How the past dictates how you live. So called moving on.

Fuck 2006
To highlight my year goes something like this.
1) Had a good trip to Thailand in February to attend the Bangkok Rock Festival. Then, a brief backpacking trip up north and learnt how to ride a motorcycle in 1 day. Rock.

Then its downhill from there onwards.
2) Came back from Thailand and went to Perhentian Island with a mate. Taxi boat capsized and there goes my then new canon eos 350, my mobile phone, memory cards. And i didnt know how to swim. fuck that.

3) 2 weeks later got myself into a 4-car collision. Not that serious, but still, fuck that.

4) After 2 months of self reflective meditation aka idling, a guy climbed over the fences and stole my back-up Fuji digital camera from my room window. My study table has been rearranged ever since. fuck him.

5) Went to Lion City for a contract work. Found a nice place, but the bed was full of bed bugs. Rashes all over and moved out immediately. Visited the hospital and got jabbed in the arse by a not too ideal looking nurse. My first time. In the arse. Fuck that.

6) Asked for refund for the room deposit, was caught in the middle of i-did-not-receive-any-money tug of war btw him and the "agent". So, gracefully, i decided to sue. Without swearing one bit on the phone to neither party. Fuck the paper work.

7) I lost 5 mobile phones. Fuck that.

So i say, fuck NYE party. Its still 2006. I might go for a beer the day after.
Happy holidays.

Its amazing how it has been a year since i have updated this site. Nothing much spectacular happened to me within the past year, which kinda depresses me, but on the other hand, glad nothing bad has happened either. Peppa is still alive, i've got a script stacked somewhere, and i seriously hope to find some motivation and time to do up the sketches & storyboarding.

Happy Holidays people.

Incubus Gig review. Live in Kuala Lumpur.

Confusing. They are not RHCP. And surely not Mogwai. GnR with turntables? Whats with the solos? Brandon Boyd has stadium rock voice. After compression to these clips, i think i made him sound like Sean Connery. Stream it here. (windows only)

Theres a great story about Townshend trying to play You Really Got Me by The Kinks, and getting it wrong but writing My Generation instead. That's how great art works: copy something great, fuck it up.

It's no wonder that so many Americans are obsessed with the finale of the TV sitcom Friends right now. They're the only friends Americans have, and even they're leaving.

You think you can keep a man, port him home with you, hold him to yourself, visit him when you are bored, and think you are keeping him still? All you're keeping is pickles in a jar. Pickles in a jar is all.
